Contrast between a hub and a switch?
Hub is connected to multiple devices at once, and transmits data to all nodes at once. A switch is similar to a hub, being connected to multiple devices on a network. However, it can send data to specific nodes, using multiple channels to transmit data. Meaning that transmission is faster, as only the nodes that require the data will receive data.

Twisted pair: The wires are twisted to reduce the amount of interference from other cabling. These cables are very cheap, but has very limited range.
Optic fibre: Made of thin glass fibres surrounded by a layer of plastic. It uses a laser of light to carry data, with data sent as pulses of light. Data is transmitted faster than coaxial cables, and is more reliable and can travel further distances.
Coaxial cable: Insulated copper wire covered in a protective coat of mesh. This shielding allows for data to be transmitted with little distortion, making the data more reliable.
