What is a biome?
This biome is always humid and warm, gets about 200-450 cm of rain per year, and is located in a belt around the Earth near the equator
What is a tropical rain forest?
These forest biomes occur in North America, Australia and New Zealand… They have large amounts of precipitation, high humidity and moderate temperatures
What are temperate rain forests?
These biomes are dominated by grasses, shrubs, and small trees with wet and dry seasons that cover parts of Africa, western India, northern Australia, and some parts of South America
What are savannas?

These biomes cover large areas of the interior of continents where there is moderate rainfall, but still too little for trees to grow… Examples include the prairies in North America, the steppes in Asia, the veldt in South Africa, and the pampas in South America
What are temperate grasslands?
The two outermost colors on the upper and lower ends of a rainbow
What are red and violet?
The distance north or south of the equator and is measured in degrees
What is latitude?
The primary layer of the tropical rain forest that contains most animals as well as abundant flowers and fruit
What is the canopy?
The northern coniferous forest that stretches in a broad band across the Northern Hemisphere just below the arctic circle… Winters are long and cold while the summers provide nearly constant daylight and large amounts of precipitation
What is the taiga?
A temperate shrubbed biome that is found in all five parts of the world with a Mediterranean climate (often in the middle latitudes, 30 degrees north and south of the equator)… These areas have moderately dry, coastal climates, with little or no rain in the summer
