This case was the first step in ending segregation in the South. It included a young girl whose father sued the school board because she was forced to attend an all-black school that was further away instead of attending the all-white school that was nearby.
What is Brown vs. Board of Education?
The process by which an immigrant becomes a U.S. citizen. An immigrant is a person who comes to the U.S. with an intent to stay.

What is prohibiting the quartering of soldiers in peacetime without the owner's permission?
This case brought about the separate but equal doctrine. A black man sat in the white section of the train and was arrested even though he was of mixed race. The state didn't consider it negative because even though they were separated, blacks were offered "the same" facilities as whites.
What is Plessy vs. Ferguson?
Any person born on American land is automatically an American citizen. American land not only includes in the U.S., but U.S. territories and military bases.

The paid agent of an interest group who speaks to state legislators, members of Congress, or government officials in order to influence new legislation or regulations.

An agreement between two or more countries to act together. Usually, they agree to defend one another if attacked.

This case focused on a recount of presidential votes in Florida.

This is the last step in the naturalization process. It is when individuals express their commitment and loyalty to the U.S.

Interest groups act as THIS of our government. This is when they question government officials and research government activities to identify issues and to expose possible wrongdoing by government officials.

This conflict involved Japan attacking the U.S. at Pearl Harbor. This attack happened despite America's desire to stay out of the war.

This amendment guaranteed the equality to African-American freedmen (freed slaves). Hint: "Equal protection under the law"

This case involved students wearing black armbands in protest against the Vietnam War. After several times in court, the students won their case and the Supreme Court stated that they were using their right to freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is not limited to words but can also mean freedom of expression.
What is Tinker vs. Des Moines?
Obeying the law, paying taxes, registering with the Selective Service, and serving on a jury if summoned are examples of this.

A form of public communication that provides biased and one-sided information. Its purpose is to influence and persuade "public opinion"--the views of ordinary citizens.
