Empathy is shown in how much compassion and understanding we can give to another. Sympathy is more of a feeling of pity for another. Empathy is our ability to understand how someone feels while sympathy is our relief in not having the same problems.

In general, empathy is the ability to understand or sense another person's perspective, feelings, needs, or intentions, even when you don't share the same circumstances. It can sometimes involve acting on that understanding, including offering help.

For example, you may have never been unhoused, but you can understand how difficult it can be and how they may feel.

Example: First, try to understand the impulse and why you feel this way. 2. Empathy can be helpful in the workplace because it helps you to understand the customer's feelings and to help them better (understand their perspective). It can also help you understand why co-workers feel a certain way. It can also help you not take things personally.

If you don't cope with the anger, you are not genuinely managing it. You are regulating your emotions, but only halfway. You need to process emotions as well. It could be talking to someone, journaling, or expressing it healthily.

Try to de-escalate! Come from a place of understanding instead of a place of punishment. The guest is not calm enough to sit down for a meal, but you can grab a to-go bag so they can still be fed.
