What is Learning Development?
Often described as, "Reading Backwards", it is almost entirely different yet equally challenging.
What is dyslexia?
Testing program used at OIS to screen and place students who qualify for ESL classes.
What is WIDA?
The current OIS policy for a teacher's first action (outside of the classroom) if a student is significantly behind in one or more academic areas
What is "speak to your supervisor"?
A kid who never wrote the correct answers on tests or quizzes earned an 80% when this happened.
What is "someone read the test" (or similar intervention)?
Number of current OIS staff Brenda knows of :) who are trained in at least one type of NILD therapy
What is 4?
A student who struggles with this foundational skill may not realize "mom" and "milk" have something in common.
What is phonemic awareness, or phonics, or onsets?
Number of teachers at OIS who teach at least one ESL class (it's the same number as last year)

The two subjects most likely to be areas that Learning Support will... support. :)
What are math and reading/ELA?
Response when learning a student with zero desire to read and low comprehension scores earns a college degree in exercise science
What is "CELEBRATE"??
NILD students are generally scoring below average in schoolwork but have this level of intelligence.

This word describes technology that helps learners to utilize strengths and bypass difficulties when reading or writing.
