When you are on the playground where should there be a staff? 

There should be a staff member in every area where there are children present.  Please spread out. 

Good rule of thumb go to an area where there are kids without a staff. Ex. 2 on little kidsplayground

2 on big kids playground 

2 on the field, 2 on the basket ball courts

Is it okay for a student to just join another group?

No. 

It is a safety concern. If you have  a student going to a different  group or place on campus the supervisor, lead and both program aides should be notified. 

The move should be approved by a supervisor or lead

What is a mandated reporter?

Any employee who works with children is a mandated reporter. As a mandated reporter we are required to report any incident or suspected incident

Should students be hanging upside down or  climbing on top of  playground equipment?

No, please kindly ask the student to not do that. 

They can get hurt.

If they continue to do the  activity you asked them not to do, you can have them sit out of play time. Once they are allowed to play again if they continue to do the behavior have them write a note home

When is it important to send note home and what different types of notes do we have?

To communicate positive or negative behavior

Today At ESS: Can be used to communicate something positive that the student has done.

Behavior Reflection: when a student makes a poor choice, has a hard time changing their behavior after they have been spoken too. This allows parents and guardians to support program aides at home.

Health Notes: injuries, temperature, band aids, ice packs, other(potty accidents)
