What is hyperglycemia?
- Hyperglycemia is a condition in which lowered insulin levels result in elevated blood sugar
What is a seizure?
A seizure is an episode of abnormal electrical signals in the brain that result in temporary and involuntary disturbances in brain function, shaking or contraction of limbs (convulsions), changes in sensation, shifts in behaviour, and altered levels of responsiveness.
When should you call 911?
Call EMS/9-1-1 immediately if you suspect that the person poses a risk to you or others, or that the person is contemplating suicide or other selfharm. If you are aware of support systems that are in place for the person, contact them as well.
What is primary role of a first aider during childbirth?
Your primary role will be to provide comfort and reassurance and to facilitate the process while you wait for EMS personnel to arrive.
Hypoglycemia
occurs when the insulin level is too high relative to the level of sugar in the
blood.

Tonic-Clonic or Convulsive Seizures
- Absence Seizures
-Focal or Partial Seizures
-Febrile Seizures
How do you care for someone who is having a mental health crisis?
1. Use active listening practices to provide reassurance, comfort, and support.
2. Offer self-help strategies such as breathing exercises.
As the baby is being birthed list the 3 responsibilities of the first aider
As the baby is being birthed:
• Support the head as it is delivered. Do not push or pull the baby.
• Once the shoulders emerge, the rest of the baby will be delivered very quickly.
• Newborns are slippery, so hold the baby firmly but do not squeeze him or her.

• You are unable to give the person sugar.
• The person is not fully awake.
• The person has a seizure.
• The person’s condition does not improve within 10 minutes of having sugar

Keep the baby warm by placing him or her directly onto the mother’s chest and covering with a blanket or towel, or by wrapping the baby in a clean towel or blanket.

Chronological - Standard format, focuses on employment history.
Combination - focused on skills, can be used to hide a gap in employment.

Ask for a business card so you can send a thank you letter.
What are the necessary steps your must take in creating an action plan?
Clue: List 5 items
1. Set a career goal and work backwards from there.
2. Clearly define the steps you need to take.
3. Create small mini-goals that will lead you to your career goal.
4. Anticipate obstacles/problems – How will you overcome them?
