Completely out of sight. Silenced and put away.
Is it okay to send a "quick" text while driving a car?
No! In Georgia, it's against the law to hold a phone while driving. If there's a passenger in the car with you, ask him/her to respond or send a message. If not, wait until you are pulled over or stopped to send it.
What are the two most important words when using polite conversation?
Please and Thank you
Should you be aware of how close you are to strangers in public?
Yes, respect people's personal space, and avoid inappropriate physical contact with others.
True or False: I can't control my emotions--they just come out on their own.
False. It takes a lot of practice, but we can learn to control our emotions, and face every situation with a calm, level head.
How do you know if you're okay to reach for a bowl of food, or if you should ask for someone to pass it to you?
If you can’t reach it with your arm straight out, leaning slightly forward, it’s too far. If someone has to lean back when you are reaching, it’s too far.
Is it okay to look at your phone while in a conversation?
No! Don't talk or text when you are in the company of someone else. It makes the person that you're with feel unimportant.
When you make a mistake that hurt or upset another person, what should you do?
Offer a sincere apology.
If you're walking on a sidewalk or other public place, and you have some trash in your hand, what do you do with it?
Hold on to it until you find a trashcan or recycling bin to put it in.
What is a parent's role, or their responsibilities?
Provide basic needs, protect the family, teach life skills, teach the Gospel, teach academics, give love to children.
When being passed a dish of food, how much is appropriate to take?
When the food reaches you, take your helping, but make sure to leave enough for others. We know you’re a teen and you’re starving. You’re always starving. You can have seconds or thirds. Just give everyone else a chance.
Also, when choosing your meat, take the piece close to you instead of rooting through the whole dish.
When is it okay to snap a picture of someone else?
Only when you have that person's permission. Just because there's a camera on your phone, it doesn't give you the right to photograph someone. Don't post a picture of anyone on-line without their consent - it can lead to big trouble if you do, especially if the picture is inappropriate (better yet, don't take inappropriate pictures).
Other than saying, "Thank you," what should you do if someone gives you a gift?
Send a handwritten thank you card.
You're out with a group of friends, walking in a public place. What should you be mindful of with regards to your language and conversations?
Use appropriate language, and don't discuss private or embarrasing topics.
What is the role of children?
Learn to work, learn life skills, learn to be responsible, learn the Gospel, be obedient, contribute to the family's happiness.
At a dinner table, when can you start eating?
Don’t start eating until everyone is seated and served, unless your host specifically tells you to begin.
Is it okay to use abbreviated text in an academic paper?
Never. Remember, the way you text is not the way you write an academic paper.
If you need to get someone's attention, or you accidentally bump into a stranger, what should you say?
Say, "Excuse me."
In any kind of game, how should you behave when you end up either the winner or loser?
Be a good team player, and always be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
When asked to do something by a parent, what should children do?
Be respectful. Do the task immediately, or ask to disagree appropriately.
When you're not using your knife and fork, where should they placed?
When you are not using your fork and knife, place them on your plate in an upside-down “V” shape.
What do you do if your phone call drops while you're having a phone conversation?
You call them back.
What are some terms of respect that you should use when talking to an adult?
Addressing them with Mr., Ms., Sir, or Ma'am, or if it's a member of the church, Sister or Brother.
You notice a mother with her small children struggling to open a door. What should you do?
Always offer a helping hand to those in need, whenever possible.
If your parent has to give a consequence or a constructive criticism, how should you respond?
Say "ok," and BE ok. No pouting, whining, lashing out, or temper tantrums.
