Explain how European colonization had an impact on slavery in the New World.
As the Europeans set up colonies, they began growing cash crops for their motherland to make money. They needed laborers, so they originally used the Natives as slaves. When most of the Native population died from disease, they turned to Africa to buy and trade slaves to do their labor.
