How did people become Knights?
They would receive training at 6 - 8 years old at a Castle to become a Page. Then usually at around the age of 16, the page would become a Squire. If the Squire was worthy of becoming a Knight around the age of 20, he would be approved by a Lord in a dubbing ceremony.
