She says its not personal, basically if socs and greasers are seen together it will look bad and then people will look at you different, just like how socs look at greasers. she also says she cant lets her parents see her with him.

At the beginning Ponyboy reads all the time and had pretty straight A's in his classes. After everything happened he started to fail classes and could rarely focus.
