How do GMO Seeds hurt farmers?

GMO seeds are heavily controlled by multinational corporations like Monsanto who profit over non-germinating seeds (meaning you can only use them once and farmers can’t save seeds from year to year). Lastly companies like Monsanto use natural climate patterns to sue neighboring farmers over intellectual property copyright when seeds that a farmer hasn’t purchased is found on their farm because the winds carried them from one farm to another.

GMOs help farmers because they can be altered to become drought resistant, pest resistant, and cold-resistant to suit the location of the farm. Because of these properties some would argue that GMOs are necessary to meet the demands of growing populations.

How are America and Canada's economy dependent on one another?

Canada is the largest export market for the United States. In 2020, Canada imported about 20% of all American exports, the largest share by one country. Another example of economic interconnectedness is the fact that 73% of Canadian exports in 2020 went to the United States. Lastly, the two countries have the benefit of shared infrastructure such as dams and canals. One example is the St. Lawrence Seaway which is a series of locks, canals, and channels that opened in 1959 and provides American and Canadian vessels access to the Great Lakes.
