What is the purpose of measurement, testing, & evaluation?
Usually whole numbers or integers
What is discrete data?
An index of linear relationship between two variables, symbolized by r.
What is correlation coefficient?
A subgroup of the population of interest
What is a sample?
A written, oral, physiological, psychological, or mechanical instrument or tool used to make a particular measurement
What is a test?
A single score that best represents all of the scores (mean, median, mode)
What is central tendency?
An r value of -0.64
What is a moderately high negative correlation?
A statement that there is no relation (association or difference) between variables
What is a null hypothesis?
A judgement and statement of quality, goodness, merit, value, or worthiness about what has been assessed
What is an evaluation
The spread of a distribution of scores
What is variability?
A correlation coefficient based on ordinal data
What is Spearmans rho?
Probability value (likelihood of results happening only by chance), typically set at 0.05
What is significance or alpha level?
How a performance compares to that of others
What is a norm-referenced standard?
Square root of the varirance
What is standard deviation?
Estimating one variable from one or multiple other variables
What is prediction?
Concluding that there is no relationship between variables when there is one
What is type 2 error?
Initial or intermediate evaluation (pretest or interim report)
What is a formative evaluation?
Have a mean score or 0 and standard deviation of 1, can be compared across data sets
What is a z score?
A statistic that reflects the average amount of error in the process of predicting y from x
What is standard of error estimate (SEE)?
A statistical test that compares ranking difference between 3+ groups
