Methimazole is used for hyperthyroidism. Seafood is high in iodine. Iodine is what is used to make T3 and T4 which are the free thyroid hormones. T3 has 3 iodine molecules and T4 has 4 iodine molecules. Patients who have hyperthyroidism need to maintain a low iodine diet.

To prevent thrush. Inhalers that contain a steroid can cause thrush if you do not rinse your mouth after inhalation.
