Expectations & Attitude
What are the four school-wide expectations we follow? They make up the acronym PAWS.
Persevere positively, act respectfully, work hard, and support others.
How do you get attention from an adult?
By raising your hand quietly.
Where do you put your backpack when you arrive?
You hang your backpack on your numbered hook outside.
What signals let you know a transition is starting? What should you do when you hear one of those?
A call-back, countdown, or timer. We should start transitioning quickly and quietly as soon as we hear the reminder to do so.
Why are your supplies important?
They help you be successful in class.
What time does school start?
School starts at 8:05 AM
What do you need to write on all of your papers and homework?
You need to write your name and class number.
What should you do with your supplies before leaving?
You should clean up all supplies and materials.
How long should a transition take?
A transition should take less than one minute.
Where do you store your materials?
You store them in your cubby or pencil caddy.
What does being on time show about your learning?
Being on time shows responsibility for your learning.
What can you earn individually or as a table for exceeding expectations?
You can earn Dojo Points or table points.
What do you grab when you are excused for dismissal?
You grab your homework folder and any papers.
How should you follow directions during transitions?
You should follow directions quickly and quietly.
Where do you keep your writing utensils organized?
You keep them in table pencil caddies.
What kind of attitude should you bring to school each day?
You should bring a positive attitude and be ready to learn.
When are class numbers especially important for safety?
Class numbers are especially important during a school emergency.
What do you take out and then where do you go at the beginning of the day? How should you do this?
You take out your homework folder and anything you need, find a spot on the rug, quickly and quietly.
