Participating in Class Discussions
Make comments and ask questions related to the topic being discussed.
Expected- the Teacher knows you are paying attention to the topic
I put my head down on my desk and do not participate or complete my work.
Unexpected- others will not be able to work and may ask you to be quiet.
Talking to others if it is not social time.
Unexpected- you may be asked to leave the classroom.
Focus your attention on your computer lesson. Fight the urge to play games or watch you tube.
Expected- You can continue to work on computer lessons.
Turn your body towards the person talking and look at them.
Expected- Others know you are thinking about the discussion and listening to them when they talk.
I do not get distracted by what other students might do in class.
Expected- Others will see me as a leader and look up to me in a positive way.
If you get stuck on an assignment, you may be able to work on another part of the task and come back to that part later.
Expected- the teacher will be able to help you when they have a moment and you won't get behind in your work.
Expected- You are ready for the next lesson and will not get nagged by the teacher.
Doing random searches without specific permission to do so.
Unexpected-You may be banned from using the computer and may be consequenced by the administration.
Add thoughts/ask questions that aren't related to the duscussion.
Unexpected- Others may tell you to be quiet.
I yell at a teacher or student if they say something I do not like.
Unexpected- others might be nervous and not want to be around me.
Constantly asking the teacher for help.
Unexpected- others may not think that you are able to complete your work.
Wandering around the classroom.
Unexpected- Others will be distracted and have strange thoughts about you because they have all learned to stay in their seats.
Be respectful of yours and others computer equipment.
Expected- The computer equipment will stay in good working order and you will have. computer to use next time.
Give too much input and dominate the discussion.
Unexpected- others may not want you to be in the group.
I raise my hand to answer/ ask questions.
Expected- Others know that I am a good team member.
If you finish your work, do something else quietly at your desk like working on other homework or reading a book.
Expected- you will show the teacher that you are ready to be in more general education classes.
Ask your teacher what you can do when you've finished your work or when you have free time.
Expected- Teacher may praise you for following the rules.
Being rough with computer equipment.
Unexpected- you will have to pay to replace it and may not get to use a computer in the future.
Use your brain filter if a classmate shares an opinion/view you don't agree with- you may have to keep your thoughts in your head.
Expected- others appreciate that you are listening to them.
I get distracted by the other students in class.
Unexpected- other students might think that I am an easy student to get in trouble.
You get really upset if you are stuck on a question.
Unexpected- the teacher won't be able to help you because you are not calm enough to listen.
Distracting others in any way.
Unexpected- You may be asked to leave the classroom.
Attempting to fix the computer on your own without permission.
Unexpected- you might break the computer.
