It is important to know geography when studying history to know where things are located on a map, and to be able to travel from one place to another. Geography also plays a role in culture which is another thing to understand when studying history.

The ideas that influenced European thought and learning during the Renaissance were the Arts, religion, and education. People were becoming more educated and focusing more on the beauty of life (the arts).
