How was Canada's capital city chosen?

in 1857 the Assembly asked Queen Victoria to choose a capital. She chose a small logging town called Bytown. It was later renamed Ottawa. She chose it for the location where 3 rivers met, it was easy to get to and it was located near the US border.

Advantage- Farmers could get their crops to market faster, business could move stock quicker, and bring in jobs
