Is URI a safe school??
We have a very safe and close community. As part of our Safety and Security system, we have our own Campus Police, Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services. In addition, we also have an extensive system of “Blue” towers stationed all over campus. Each station is equipped with a phone, which calls any number on-campus, a red button connected directly to the campus police, and a bright blue light on top. URI also has an Emergency Notification System, which is capable of notifying the entire campus community—students, faculty, staff, and families—by phone, email, or text. All of these services ensure that students have the opportunity to study and live in a safe and close campus community.

Why does it smell like marijuana? Do a lot of students smoke on campus?
I apologize for that; we take substance abuse very seriously here at URI. There are sanctions for students who violate this policy. Smoking is not condoned in any residence hall or academic building on campus.
