Unplanned: Send a message via the “Student Workers” Teams chat. If you receive no response, call the main library number and tell a supervisor directly.
Planned: Notify Saralyn via email for pre-approved time off. Make sure you have been taken off the calendar for that day.
How do you renew a reserve book?
Do not click "renew" for reserve books. Return the book and then re-check it out.
Walk through the process of returning a day loan laptop.
Return it in Alma, POWER IT OFF, and plug it into its appropriately numbered charger in the day loan cart.

Student ID number/name and the time.
When should you unlock the recording studio for a student?
Only unlock the recording studio if the ITC desk is closed AND the student is on the Digital Media Suites list.
What is the WIFI password?
The public WIFI does not have a WIFI password! If you are trying to access the SRJC Wireless WIFI, your device needs to be set up with IT. Can be done online or at the ITC desk.
Where should students be directed for help with course scheduling and planning? What building is this in?

What are the expectations regarding phones and headphones at the desk?
Phones are not allowed at the desk. Let the supervisor on shift know if you need to make a call.
Headphones are not allowed at the desk. You can use earbuds discretely but should not have them in when someone approaches.
You're welcome to wear headphones when doing a project away from the desk.
What should you do if a student comes up to the desk and asks for help finding textbooks for their Economics class, but doesn't know the edition?
Refer them to the research desk. We should only be looking up books if the student knows the title / author / edition of the book they are looking for.

What is your renewal policy for laptops?
Laptops are due back at the end of every spring for updates, no matter what. They can be renewed at the end of summer and fall. If you check it out in spring, it is due at the end of spring. If you check it out in summer, it can be renewed until next spring.

When is it appropriate to use the generic community member login?
Only when the patron does not have an email. Ideally, they are being signed on so they can access their email and create an account.
You are completing a pick-from-shelf and after scanning it in you notice that it says “Claremount Colleges (CA)” rather than a person’s name. What do you do with this hold item?
This book is an ILL and needs to brought to Lena after it is scanned in.
When pulling a patron account, you notice it says "Patron card has expired" and you are not able to check items out to them. What do you do?
This means the student is not enrolled, according to Alma. Ask the student if they are enrolled, and tell a supervisor if they say yes so they verify. Do NOT renew their patron card.
How much do you guys charge in late fees for these textbooks? There are two different answers, depending on the loan period.
For 2 and 4 hour items, $1 per hour.
For 1 & 3 day items, $2.50 per day.
How many Welcome Centers are there? Where are they located?

No :( The computers are intended to support the education of SRJC students, so community members are restricted to one hour. You're welcome to try the public library.
