Who was John Marshall? What decision is he known for making?

He was the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court in the 1830s who ruled on Worcester vs Georgia and disagreed with the Indian Removal Act.

He ruled that Native Americans, such as the Cherokee, were their own sovereign nations (countries) and state/federal government cannot intervene with their territories.
