Definitions

What is an anchorage?
Must have a top rail and a middle rail and installed between 39 to 45 inches tall.
What is a guardrail?
These shall be capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 50 pounds applied in any downward or outward direction at any point.

An area in which certain work may take place without the use of guardrail system, personal fall arrest systems, or safety net systems and access is restricted.
What is a Controlled Access Zone CAZ?
These must be installed as close as possible under where are you are working, but never more than 30 feet below the edge of a walking–working surface.

What are falls?
Straps which may be secured about the employee in a manner that will distribute the fall arrest forces over at least the thighs, pelvis, waist, chest and shoulders with means for attaching it to other components of a personal fall arrest system.

Eliminates the possibility of a worker going over the unprotected edge or side of a walking – working surface.
What is a travel restraint system?
Effective January 1, 1998 these are not acceptable as part of a personal fall arrest system.
What is a body belt?
A gap or void 2 inches or more in at least dimension, in a floor, roof, or other walking/working surfaces
What is a hole?
Made up of equipment and connectors that, when used with a body harness, allows you to be supported on an elevated vertical surface, like a wall or window sill, and work freely with both hands.
