Conversation Share refers to the amount of time one spends talking during the conversation.

Flexible:

  • be a social chameleon
  • think about more than one solution
  • think about others
  • be okay if your plans change
  • keep an open mind

Rigid:

  • means you are unable to bend and are “stuck.” This happens when you get upset if things do not your way instead of trying to solve the problem, or instead of thinking about other solutions. Being rigid means we do not try to think about others’ thoughts and feelings.

Why should we not interrupt?

o   When people are talking, they should be able to finish what they are saying. If we talk when someone else is already speaking, that is interrupting.

 If we interrupt them, they may feel upset, annoyed, or angry. They may not want to continue a conversation because they may feel that their thoughts and ideas are not important.

How do we know the right time to switch a topic? (Think of the surfer riding the wave)
