This term is defined as discrimination against people with disabilities. It includes false assumptions, negative attitudes, or judgments that define people by their disability and view disability as a problem. It also results in barriers that can make it difficult for parents with disabilities to access important programs and services. Many parents with disabilities have experienced it.

Relationship-based competencies (RBCs) are the knowledge, skills, and individual practices early childhood professionals in every role need to engage and partner with families. This is how many RBCs there are.
