What are three steps to take when measuring the body?

1/ Make sure the person is wearing proper undergarments

2/ Make sure the person is relaxed and their back is upright

3/ Make sure to not allow them to see themselves in the mirror as it causes them to stand erect causing the garment to fit improperly

What are the three measurements of the sleeve and how to do each

How do we measure:

1. The neck

2.The bust

3. The chest

Neck- Measure around the base of the neck allowing space for ease

Bust- Measure around the fullest part of the bust allowing the tape measure to run over the apex or tip of the breast

Chest- Measure around the fullest part of the chest just under the arm

How do we measure:

1. The waist

2.The thigh

3. The hip

4. Crotch depth

Waist- This is normally based off personal preference therefore ask the person where it is most comfortable for them around that area. That area will develop a natural sink and is called the smallest part of the mid section. It is therefore appropriate to measure around the smallest part of the waist

Thigh- Measure around the fullest part of the thigh just under the crotch

Hip- Measure around the widest part of the hip allowing the tape measure to run over the fullest part of the buttocks

Crotch depth- Allow the person to sit down with their back upright. Measure them from the waist to the surface of the chair
