Once the IC has made the decision to evacuate a building or area the following steps should be followed

1. Alert all personnel via the radio on the assigned operating channel. The IC should announce that all personnel should leave immediately and provide any pertinent information regarding where to evacuate or why. The IC should then activate the emergency evacuation (orange) button located on the radios if operating on Fireground 1.

2. Alert all apparatus operators to activate their siren and horns for 15 seconds followed by a brief rest and then for another 15 seconds.

3. Begin performing a PAR starting with the companies known to be in the hazard area.

4. If a crew or individual is not accounted for, a mayday will be issued with the last known area of operation given to the R.I.T.
