true or false.

Penn state only allows you to join a maximum of 10 clubs/orgs.

FALSE! however quality over quantity. you want to make sure you are able to balance school with extracurriculars and making an impact with certain orgs even if that means you are only a part of 2 or 3

100

what are three benefits of doing a club?

- meet new people

- makes school more fun and psu a bit smaller

- allows you to express your interests

- potentially make new hobbies

100

do you have to join a sorority/fraternity to have fun?

No. a lot of people believe they need to join a sorority/fraternity in order to make friends. As someone who is in one, I can vouch that I have made just as amazing friendships in my clubs/orgs because I am surrounded by people that express the same interests as me.

200

there are more than ___  student organizations here at Penn State

1,000

200

you can still drop a class even after the late drop period if you reach out to your advisor and ask them.

what is something you should do before registering for a class

- read up on the curriculum. a lot of times you want to have an idea on what you are probably going to be learning throughout the semester to give you a better idea of what other classes you should take and whether or not you can balance everything.

- rate my professor (just give it a look)

300

What is THON?

- THON is a student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer.

- it is also the most rewarding experience, you should definitely consider joining a committee.

fall and spring.

400

at what point throughout the school year can you join a club

anytime!

but I suggest at the start of a semester.

400

what should you do if your struggling in a class

- talk to the professor. a lot of times they do a much better job of explaining the material if you go to their office hours + this gives you an opportunity to connect with them on a one on one basis and now you may potentially have someone to write you a rec letter in the nearby future!

- get a buddy in class that way you guys can lean on each other for support.

400

name a way you can get involved as a psu student that doesn't include being in a club/org.

you can become a....

TA's - teaching assistant

LA's - learning assistant

is FGA only for first-gen college students

No. Many people hear FGA and think "oh I can't join it because I am not a first gen." this is not true, we are FGA (first-gen ADVOCATES). To be a part of this club is to advocate for first generation students.
