This Swiss archer was a talented climber and skilled with a crossbow, he is known for defying a tyrannical lord, and when the archer and his son risked execution for the defiance, he was offered to earn a pardon if he shot an apple off his son's head, which he did successfully.

This Greek king fought in the Trojan war for ten years, and then on his journey home was delayed by numerous obstacles for another ten years. On his return, his wife, who was being pursued by suitors, had set up an impossible challenge by having them string the king's bow and shoot through twelve axes. Only the returned hero was able to complete this and reclaim his throne after being presumed to be dead.
