Aurangzeb focused too much on military prowess, and drained the empire of money. He was also less religiously tolerant and his policies led to frequent conflicts and rebellions.

Enlightenment thinking is when one emphasizes reason and logic over tradition and religion. John Locke believed that citizens should be able to revolt and rebel against unjust government. Hobbes believed that people's natural state was to live in a bleak world in which life was "nasty, brutish, and short." A similarity is that they were both enlightenment thinkers.
