Celebrations
Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") is a celebration of decadent, fatty foods and excessive consumption before the penitential season of Lent in which Catholics and others may fast or give up certain luxuries for a time leading up to Easter.
Carnival (the 3 day period of which Mardi Gras is the final day) is celebrated worldwide and is featured in the song "Topsy Turvy" in this 1996 Disney film set in a landmark cathedral in Paris.
