Since 1945, Democrats typically expand government, increase taxes, offer entitlement programs (Welfare), guarantee civil liberties, regulate business, promote social justice, argue for limits on guns, and stress the importance of global cooperation.
In contrast, Republicans prefer to spend heavily on the US military while privatizing most industries and reducing gov't regulations. They also wish to cut taxes and focus on protecting religious rights and reduce gun control limitations.
