This mountain range, pictured below, stretches from southern Pennsylvania to northern Georgia, and is named for its color, which is a result of hydrocarbon released from trees. It's also home to a Parkway sharing the same name, that runs 469 miles along its spine. It is most notably mentioned in John Denvers folk masterpiece, "Take Me Home, Country Roads".
