How can you get a hotspot/blister?
By wearing the wrong socks and/or boots/shoes that don't fit properly.
How can you get a cut or scrape while camping?
Using a knife, tripping, falling.
How can you get a burn or scald while camping or on an outdoor activity?
Campfire, hot liquid, sunburn, hot stove.
What should you avoid doing if a tick bites you?
Burn it, ignore it.
What should you avoid doing if someone in your camp get frostbite?
Warm the person immediately, panic. If you're far from camp, do not put them on a bobsled.
What are hot spots?
An area of the skin that becomes tender as a blister forms.
What should you do if you get a cut or scrape?
Clean it, put ointment (unless allergic) then bandage it.
What should you avoid if you get a burn or scald?
Burning it more, putting hot water on it, touching it. Avoid using the area where the burn or scald is.
How can you get a tick or insect bite?
By walking in tall grass touching insect hives.
How can you get frostbite or sun burns?
By being in the cold for too long and not wearing sunscreen in places without shade (like the beach).
What should you avoid doing with a hotspot or blister?
Pop the blister. Put on shoes that don't fit. Do nothing.
What are signs of infection in a cut?
Some signs are redness, warmth, tenderness, swelling, and green or yellow fluid.
What should you do if you get a first degree burn?
Run it under cool water apply a cool compress and put some aloe.
What do you do if a tick bites you?
you should put on gloves (latex free) and grab tweezers and pinch gently but hard enough to pull it out near the mouth area.
What do you do if you get frostbite?
Slowly warm the person/area.
