Cool, running water for at least 20 minutes.
Pat dry and cover loosely with a clean cloth or bandage.

Call 911
Immobilize the bone, provide a splint if trained

How do 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns differ?
1st degree- affects only outer layer of skin (red, painful)
2nd degree- affects 1st and 2nd layer of skin (red, swollen, blisters)
3rd degree- affects all layers down to the nerves (Waxy, white, leathery, black/deep red)
With a deep cut, why do you want to elevate the limb above heart level?
Elevation uses gravity to reduce blood flow to the injury– helping to slow bleeding and decrease swelling
