Who are mentors?
This means that the mentors come to the Family Center every week and do not get paid

6-12th grade students who live in Prospect Park or close to Prospect Park
How many students can be in the hallway (bathroom or getting a drink) at a time?

How do we decide who goes in what group?
We usually divide groups by age and gender

Mentors are consistent. They agree to come this many hours per week to group.

Why is it good to come to group every week?
1. To have fun with friends
2. To get to know the mentors better
3. To help give ideas about what to do in group
4. To be able to go on field trips
This is something the high school students can do (or go to) to make plans for their futures

Mentors have to have boundaries with students. Are they allowed to give students their phone number or add them on social media?
No!

Two hours per week, all school year

Who plans the activities for the group meetings?
Mentors plan activities, with help from Miss Susie and with suggestions from kids

How can mentors help students?
Lots of answers including: teach them new things, connect them to helpful people, help them through difficult situations, have fun with them, etc

Sign up and bring a signed permission slip
Why do we have a "Speak English" rule?
To include everyone in the group
How do you get to mentoring groups and how do you get home?
You can walk or get a ride. Parents can drive, or Miss Susie can pick you up. Pick ups are at 5:30pm at the old building, and drop offs are after 8pm
This is a once-a-month trip to the Whitehall Library that any student can go to, as long as they behave

Mentors agree to keep most things from group confidential except for reasons about the law. What does confidential mean?
When can students do homework at the Family Center?
Why is it important to not be mean to other students (with words or actions) during group?
1. Because we want group to be a place where everyone feels comfortable and included
2. Because it's just a good way to live your life
Is there unlimited money to buy supplies for group meetings?
Name the best field trip you've been to, and be able to explain why.
