It's important that we have the customer stand on the insole before trying the insole in their shoes so we can check for proper fit.
What two things are we looking at when we're checking for insole fit outside the shoe?
1. Proper fit in the heel. Be sure the heel sits in the heel cup and is not spilling over.
2. Proper insole length. The plastic plate should end right before the customers metatarsals.
It can be easy to miss this step, but it can make or break the experience for our customers.

2. Pain
3. Perfomance
Note: Customers can fall under multiple categories!
A repeat customer comes in to replace their Ghost 10 with an 11; they're the kind of person who knows what they like and want to stick with it forever. If our goal is to increase our scans per shoe sale ratio, what could you say to this customer to encourage them to get scanned?
Ask when the last time they were fit was and mention that we have new technology to introduce to them. Mention it's always great to take a fresh measurement because feet change and shoes fit differently

Nigel, a new-to-running British fella, overpronates on the right foot and supinates on the left foot. He's an avid walker but wants transition into running. What should you ask him, look for, and recommend? Play this out with a teammate and explain why your steps. (100 bonus points shall be awarded for doing this in a British accent)
Ask about: what all he plans to do with his new shoes, where he plans to use them, if he wears an insert or orthotics, and if he has a history of injuries or discomfort in his legs.
Look for: a telling wear pattern on his street shoes or old workout shoes.
Recommend: it will vary based on the answers from above, but a good place to start is in the neutral category, possibly with an insole to help out his right foot.
Demonstrate on a teammate how to properly fit someone for a Nathan hydration pack.

Why does the foot pronate?
BONUS (100 POINTS): Why do most people spend too much time in the pronated position?
Pronation is the body's natural way of absorbing shock. During pronation, the foot expands as it absorbs your body weight and adapts to the surface underneath.
BONUS: Because of the hard flat surfaces we walk on, our feet tend to stay in the pronated position too long during the gait cycle.

2. It's not your store.

What is proprioception and how does it relate to insoles?
Proprioception describes the ability to sense the orientation of your body in your environment.
Example: The ability to sense the surface you're standing on without seeing the ground beneath you.
Proprioceptors are messengers between your brain and your foot movement. Insoles give you a more consistent foot strike to allow your foot to adapt to the surface it's striking more appropriately and efficiently.
We'll see a lot of talk about proprioception in when the new personalized insoles are introduced in early 2019.
Lucy Liarpants insists there's no reason to use this newfangled, foot measuring technology because her foot size has been a 7, 2A since birth. She's a prehistoric woman who likes her shoes the way she likes her dogs: small, soft, and white as snow. Lucy's battling plantar fasciitis and also complains her shoes make her feet fall asleep. What do you recommend and how can the Fit ID help? Explain, AND act out this scenario with a teammate.
Lots of ways to go with this. CM and EH will assess on the spot and add to it if necessary.
