X = length x width x height.

What is the formula for calculating volume?

100

A system that uses pressurized air for a mechanical motion.

What is a pneumatic system?

100

Why are solids generally more dense than liquids or gases ?

Solids particles are tightly packed, resulting in high densities

100

An appropriate unit of measurement for each of the following...mass, volume, and density?

What is

mass - g, kg, lbs

volume - mL, L, cubic centimetre

density - g/mL, kg/L

What is Miss Adams favourite colour?

 Green!

200

         mass

  X = ---------

         Volume

What is the formula for calculating density?

200

The volume of fluid which passes per unit of time.

What is the volumetric flow rate?

200

The density of water in a jar is 1 g/ml. If we added these fluids to the jar which ones would sink and which would float?

Fluids : Honey - 1.4 g/ml, milk - 1.03 g/ml, motor oil - 0.9 g/ml

Floats: motor oil

Sinks: milk, and then honey

200

The volume of a box that has a length of 4 feet, a width of 2 feet, and a height of 3 feet.

V= 24ft3

Therefore the volume of the box is 24 cubic feet.

How many homeroom teachers are at our school?

there are 12 homeroom teachers at our school.

300

If you known the density, you can use this formula to FIND another measurement.

X = density x volume

What is the formula for calculating mass?

300

A ratio that compares mass to volume for a substance. This tells us how tightly packed the particles are in a material.

What is density?

300

Between ice and water, the substance that has a higher density and how we know this.

What is water has a higher density, and we know this because ice floats on water.

Ice create crystal like bonds pushing the particles away making them less dense than water.

300

A diamond watch has a volume of 75ml and a mass of 300g. What is the density of the diamond watch?

Density = 4 cm3

Therefore the density of the diamond is  4 cm3.

What is the date of your graduation ceremony this year?

Tuesday, June 24th, 2025

X =   V of fluid passing

      -----------------------

                time

What is the calculation of Volumetric Flow rate?

400

When pressure is exerted on a fluid, it will be evenly distributed throughout the fluid.

What is Pascal’s law?

400

What is the difference between Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems ?

Hydraulic Systems uses liquid

- More powerful

-No delay in movement

- Heavy hoses

Pneumatic Systems uses pressurized air

- No electricity making them safer

-resistant to shock damage

- Light hoses

400

A pipe is pouring liquid at a rate of 500 milliliters per minute. How much liquid will be poured in 10 seconds?

In 10 seconds, approximately 83.33 milliliters of liquid will pass through the pipe.

500/60 second = 8.33 ml/s

then 8.33 ml x 10 seconds = 83.33 ml.

DOUBLE JEOPARDY :

Name 5 things you have learned in science this year. this can be from any unit we have covered.

answers may vary. Ms. Adams will decide.

500

W = m × g

What do each of these variables represent ?

● W is the weight of an object

● m is the mass of an object

● g is the acceleration of gravity

500

What is the difference between Mass, Weight and Volume ?

- Mass is the amount of matter in an object.

- Weight is the force of gravity pulling on an object. It depends on where the object is.

-Volume is the amount of space an object takes up.

500

How does changing states of matter change fluids densities using a factor such as temperature?

As a substance heats up, its particles gain energy and move more, causing them to take up more space, decreasing its density.

Conversely, cooling a substance slows down its particles, causing them to occupy less space, increasing its density.

500

Which cube has the lowest density...cube A or cube B?

The length, width, and height of cube A are each 2 cm. The mass of cube A is 40 grams.

 The length, width, and height of cube B are each 3 cm. The mass of cube B is 60 grams.

What is cube B?

500

What are some things to consider when finding the volume of an orange ?

If you know the density of an apple, you could then weigh it

and perform a calculation. However, an apple is not uniform

and so a simple calculation will not be accurate.

An easier way would be to submerge the apple in water and

measure how much water is displaced (noting that an apple

floats and will need to be held down.)
