Immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed are forms of idolatry. Even good things can be idols, family, friends, education, etc.

Surprising future: Mark. Abandoned Paul during his 1st missionary journey but repented and became useful to Paul in the end. So much so that Paul wanted Mark with him in 2 Tim 4:11. And Mark became one of the gospel writers.
