What is a "Scrub Up"?

Scrub up is the warm-up for the day where you get prepared for the lab ahead.
When using the oven, a student should always use a/n ______ when putting items in or out to avoid getting burned.

How should you walk through the classroom with a knife?
YOU DON'T! When using a knife, you should remain in your lab.
Who is responsible for making sure dishes are clean, dry, and put away?
Everyone!
Where do you find the list of food items you will need?
The Ingredient List on the Recipe Card.
Name 3 things that must be done/cleaned by the end of the lab.
- Dishes clean and dry
- Dishes put away
- Food in the refrigerator (labeled)
- Sink clean
- Counters clean
- Floor swept
Why is it important to start "Scrubbing Up" as soon as you get to class?
So you will have enough time to finish the lab assignments for the class.
1. What is the proper way to wash a knife?
2. What's the #1 thing NOT to do when washing a knife?
1. Hold the handle, use soap and warm water, gently wash with a sponge, rinse with warm water, dry and immediately put it away.
2. Do NOT put it in a sink full or bowl full of water.
If you drop a utensil on the floor, how should you proceed?
Wash the item with soap and warm water, making sure you wash your hands also.
What do you bring to the shopper table to measure 2 cups of marshmallows?
Colored bowls and 1 cup measuring cup
When are you dismissed from the lab?
When Mrs. Pohl approves that your kitchen is COMPLETELY clean!
**Passes will not be written for students who are late because their kitchen wasn't clean**

1. Put your personal items at your seat.
2. Wash your hands.
3. Put on your team apron.
4. Read the recipe TWICE.
5. Wait for Mrs. Pohl's instructions.
When you have a question for Mrs. Pohl, how should you ask?
You should stay in your lab and raise your hand.
There is no reason to leave your kitchen.
When is an acceptable time to use the restroom during a lab?
TRICK QUESTION!
There isn't. You will not be allowed to use the restroom or get a drink of water during the lab.
*Use the restroom before/after class, and bring a water bottle
