What are the three types of variables?

Independent, Dependent, and Constant.

100

What is a Force?

A push or a pull.

100

What is acceleration?

A change in motion due to the objects changing speed.

100

A fair investigation consists of what?

Variables are carefully chosen and controlled.

100

What is Mass?

The amount of matter in an object.

200

What do the three variables mean?

What you change/test, what stays the same, and what is the measured data from the test.

200

What is a downward force on earth?

Gravity.

200

If a ball is rolling at a steady pace but wind starts to blow the ball forward. What will happen to the speed?

It will start to roll faster.

200

What might make an investigation unfair?

Person being biased and variables being similar but not exact.

200

What is Collision?

An event in which 2+ objects and or bodies exert forces on each other for a period of time. 2+ objects interact through contact.

300

You use 5 different lotions over 5 weeks to test which will keep your hands the softest. You put the lotion on at the same time everyday and always on your hands. You have determined lotion number 4 is the best.

What is the independent variable?

The 5 different lotions.

300

what is force measured in?

Newtons.

300

When more mass is added to an object, what happens to the speed?

It slows down.

300

Is testing in the same environment the whole time fair or unfair? Why?

Fair. You can see the effects the environment has on the variable.

300

What are vectors?

A quantity that has a magnitude and a direction; shown by an arrow representing a force in one direction - must be labeled.

400

You use 3 different nail polishes to test which will stay the longest without chipping. You don't pick at your nails while the polish is on. You have determined nail polish number 1 is the best.

What is the dependent variable?

Whichever nail polish is the best (number 1)

400

4 people of equal strength play a game of tug of war with teams of two. Two people are on left and Two people are on right, they all start to pull, which way does the rope go? Why?

The rope does not move. If they are all equal in strength then the rope is being pulled equally and it will not move.
400

How does speed impact collsion?

The more speed there is, the more damage there is.

400

Is lighting and putting 2 different types of candles in the same room with the same wind levels to see which one lasts longer a fair or unfair investigation?

Fair.

400

What is magnitude?

Amount of something; how large or small the something is; shown by the length of vector arrows.

500

You do an investigation to see where the best place to plant strawberries are. You plant 1 strawberry seed in 3 different places. You give each seed the same amount of water.

What is the Constant variable?

The water.

500

3 people are on both the left and right side of the rope. They both pull 15N (each person pulls 5N) if one more person pulls on the right side, how many Newtons are they pulling?

20 Newtons.

500

What is the relationship between force and change in motions?

If the force increases so will the change in motion.

500

Is dropping a phone on sand vs on cement to test phone case vs no phone case, fair or unfair? Why?

Unfair. There is no way of knowing if the phone case will be better if it is dropped on a two different types of material.

500

What are force pairs?

The equal and opposite forces always presented when two objects are in contact. The objects push together equally or pull apart equally.
