These meetings which often take place weekly, help a youth maintain the connection with their family of origin and may influence reunification.
What are family visits?
If a youth wants to play sports, join the school choir, or boy scouts or girl scouts they only need permission from this person.
What is the foster parent?
Remembering the hand model of the brain, when a youth is dysregulated, we say they have done this.
What is "flipped their lid?"
This behavior in the crisis development model often involves swearing, yelling, refusal, threatening, ignoring, arguing & blaming.
What is defensive?
While behaviors such as stealing, hoarding food, and lying are viewed as negative behaviors, in some contexts these skills may have kept a child alive.
What are survival skills?
Demonstrating empathy and speaking positively about these individuals will help build trust with foster youth.
What are bio families?
Reasonable and prudent parenting standards were developed so the experiences of youth in foster care could be more similar to their peers who are not in foster care.
