Ms. Perez has been teaching this subject for about 3 years in November.

Art!

I am a type of drawing that utilizes a direct reference of objects from everyday life.

This piece of equipment is located in the back of the classroom and can be used to wash used paintbrushes and other unclean tools. This equipment is NOT to be used for any type of storage whatsoever.

The Sink!

I am the first step in art critique. During this step, I list what I see in the artwork.

Describe

Ms. Perez is this many apples tall. (An apple is about 12 cm on average, which is about 4.7 inches)

About 15.5 apples

I'm a handmade clay structure that is approximately palm sized that is hand built.

A Pinch Pot

I'm a type of drawing that heavily relies on the use of rulers to create realistic images of buildings and room interiors.

Perspective Drawing

300

You say this phrase when you need to walk behind another person during a busy studio day. Chefs also says this in the kitchen.

Sorry, behind!

I am the second step in art critique. In this stage, I note what I see using specially art elements and design principles.

Analyze

300

My cat is named after this thin strip of material that vibrates to produce a sound on a musical instrument (like a clarinet).

Reed

This turtle was made using this process involving paper and watered down glue.

Paper Mache

I'm a fast drying paint that is heavily pigmented but can be watered down to create a lighter appearance. When I dry completely, I become water resistant. When this paint is layered heavily, it can create a texture.

EVERY SECOND COUNTS!

You've been given one week of studio time to complete a painting, but you feel you don't have enough time in-class to finish. You attend this after school.

Art Club or Tutoring with either Perez or Kauffman. Even though I will be giving you ample in-class time to work on projects, it is your responsibility to use the entirety of the given time.

400

I am the third step in art criticism. During this stage, I try to figure out what the artwork means based on the previous stages of art criticism. I consider what mood, feeling, ideas, and stories are being told through the work.

Interpret

I moved to back to Downriver after living in Washtenaw county for 7 years for college, which would make me this many years old in human years.

I'm a type of sculpture whereby the carving is sunk below the level of the flat surface.

Sunken Relief

500

I'm an art technique that was heavily used post World War I in a movement called Dadaism. This technique, when translated from French to English, can be best described as "to glue" or "to stick together."

Collage

It's the end of the day and Ms. Perez is calling for clean up at the last 10 minutes of class. The room is a mess, but you haven't been assigned a task. You do this to help build a sense of community for your classmates.

Clean! Even if it isn't your mess, you still play a part in the classroom as a student existing in the space and therefore have the responsibility to each other to clean even if it isn't your mess.

500

I am the final stage of art criticism. Here, I judge whether of not the work is successful in conveying their ideas based on skill and technique.

Evaluate

My roommate and I co-parent these four pets.

1 cat, 2 snakes, and 1 lizard
