No, they are NOT equivalent.
I know this because I cannot multiply anything by 3 to get 7, or 6 to get 9.
At a school, they were making a new playground and wanted a basketball court, the gaga ball pit, and a playset. They had 7 6/12 yards to work with. The basketball court took up 3 3/12 yards and the gaga all pit took up 1 1/12. How many yards do they have left for the playset?
7 6/12 - 3 3/12 - 1 1/12 = 3 2/12
They have 3 2/12 yards left over for the play set.
