True or False: 12/4 is a fraction that matches this picture.

False. Fractions that match are 12/3 or 4 wholes.

Noah bakes a pie and cuts 6 equal slices. His sister eats 2 slices. Draw the shape and color in the pieces to show how many slices his sister ate and write the fraction to match.
color in 2 out of 6 slices; 2/6

Hannah baked a pan of brownies for her family. She cut the brownies into equal pieces. At the end of the day, there were 2 brownies left. If Hannah tells you that these 2 brownies represent 1/6 of the pan, how many pieces were in the whole pan?
the denominator is 6. So draw 6 circles/groups. Since 2 pieces represents 1 out of 6 (1/6), put two counters/dots in each group. Count up how many dots you have total OR multiply 6 (groups) x 2 (dots).

You should get an answer of 12.

Caleb ran around the park loop that was 1/3 mile long. He ran around the loop 9 times. Caleb says he ran 9/3 miles. His sister says that he ran 3 whole miles. Who is correct? Explain how you know.
Both are correct. The distance is 1/3, so 9 times around would be 9/3. If we draw circles to show that, we would draw 3 circles and split each circle into 3 parts. There would be 9 parts total and all would be colored in, so we would also see that 9/3 = 3 wholes.
