Henry Clerval

Caroline Beaufort Frankenstein (Victor’s mother)

Henry serves as a confidant and foil to Victor. They are similar in their upbringing, but Henry is more laidback and jovial than Victor. He is the one who restores Victor to health after the experiment and guides him back home.

Victor’s mother was a portrait of goodness and her death meant a loss of innocence in Victor’s life. Her death was also likely the stimulus for Victor’s future work in restoring life to the dead.
