In your opinion, why do you think Fredrick Douglass learning to read and write is important in today's society? How might things be the same or different?

If fredrick Douglass did not learn to read and write maybe the fight for civil rights would have been a longer fight or not have happened at all. He is also incredibly important because of the leaders he influenced such as Malcom X and MLK. If Fredrick Douglass did not learn to read and write and pave the way for others, who knows where the world would be today.
