Although this was solidifying liberty and equality this didn't definitively happen for the women and the individuals of the lower classes. Olympe de Gouges was an activist, empowering change and demanding women's rights, and was executed for speaking her mind. Overall, the revolution brought new ideas and structures of power, but used old systems of power to replace the old injustices with new ones, particularly under Napoleon's rule.
