Students can often be seen checking their phones for updates, playing games, or texting friends. While some argue that cell phones can be used for educational purposes, in many of these cases, cell phones are not being used primarily for educational purposes which diverts a student’s attention from the lesson. Although there may be exceptions, the simplest and most likely conclusion, based on these observations, is that cell phones in schools often lead to distraction rather than enhancing the learning experience. Therefore, allowing cell phones in schools can have negative effects on students.
