A trademark is a word (brand) that belongs to someone. Others cannot use this word for profit.

The word was now out of his control. The word belonged to everyone, he could not take it back even if he tried.
How did Nick`s dad feel about frindle?
He was sick of the attention and the drama. He wanted it to FADE away!
What was Nick`s lunch program idea? And, why did Nick keep the idea to himself?
His idea was to have all of the kids bring their lunches to school until the cafeteria improved the quality of the food. He kept the idea to himself because he was worried about the repercussions (frindle-mania again??)

A protagonist is the `hero` of the story. He/she works against the villain.
The title is called Chess because the word war seemed like a chess game - White Queen (Nick`s mom) versus the Black Queen (Mrs. Chatham).

Everyone was watching him, waiting for his next idea. Kids expected him to be funny and live up to his trickster reputation.

Ripples- like a rock dropping into the water, ripples flow from the source. Frindle flowed from Westfield into all of the other cities and states.
