No, metaphorical ear plugs in at all times. Since the desk is a shared space, there may be conversations that are private but can still be heard. Anything that is said at the desk should remain at the desk.

No, 100% smoke free Residence Halls and Campus.

Do you give a student's information out to their parents?

No, under any circumstances, you cannot release any student information. Student information is protected under FERPA.

Do you wear gloves while processing/giving packages and letter mail?

Yes, Front Desk COVID safety guidelines state you must wear gloves while processing AND distributing packages/letter mail.

Are you allowed to give the location of a resident?

No, Resident’s information is protected under FERPA. If the caller is concerned about a resident, you may take down the information and say a health and safety check can be performed by a staff member.

What is the first thing you should do at the start of your shift?

Clock in on ADP, Wipe down counter, phones, and computer lab.

Can you have alcohol in your room if you are under 21 years old?

No, unless your roommate is 21 or older. All must be disposed when done and there should not be an access of alcohol present in the room.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act 1974

Protects the privacy of student education records, such as, report cards, transcripts, disciplinary records, contact and family information, class schedules, housing status, etc.

What do you do if a delivery service approaches the Front Desk?

Do not accept any packages under any circumstances unless they come directly from Candice or Luis. Any delivery service must be directed to the Mail Room.

Who do you call if there is an emergency during your shift?

Call the RA on Duty. If you have the RA phone, call the Admin on Call or Mattea.

What are the cleaning guidelines for the computer lab?

Wipe down counters, doors, phones, computer lab. Wearing gloves while processing & giving packages & mail. Wiping computer lab after Resident uses it.

There are no guests allowed on campus.

What do you do if you do not have the answer the caller is asking for?

Try to gather as much information to give you the best educational guess. Use your experience as a student, HNU website, ask others in the office. Be confident in yourself and knowledge.

Can another student collect mail/packages besides their own?

No, the resident whose name is on the package must pick it up, unless they contact Mattea before requesting a proxy.

What do you do if a resident is drunk passing by the Front Desk?

Call the RA on Duty and tell them the direction the resident is headed.

The resident assigned to the room plus an additional 2 residents. In total 3. All must be wearing masks.
